Usually when a patient has a toothache it is because the nerve in the tooth is diseased. This results in an infection which causes pressure on the nerves and in pain. Call our office at 520-809-6100 and we will see you immediately to get you out of pain.

If the nerves of your teeth become infected, Dr. Randall may recommend a root canal to save the tooth. The only other option when this situation occurs is an extraction. Most of the time it is far better to save the tooth, if possible and also less expensive. When you have pain in a tooth, it means that the decay has gone past the outer enamel layer and has reached deep into the tooth. When left untreated, this type of infection and disease may cause the tooth to die.

To restore the tooth to proper form and function, it is necessary to complete root canal treatment. Doing a root canal means that the dentist will remove the infected and injured tissue from the middle of the tooth, clean the area out and fill it with a permanent, medicated material. The tooth will then usually require a build up with either posts or pins to rebuild sufficient tooth structure to allow a crown to be placed on top of it. It usually takes two appointments to complete the root canal treatment. The build up and crown is then done in one appointment with CEREC technology.

Root canals have a reputation for being painful. In reality, however, we can complete root canal treatment with minimal discomfort thanks to our advanced technology and anesthesia. Dr. Randall works hard to provide you with a pleasant and comfortable experience.
